Tony “T-Rex” Chohan
Tarjit “Tony” Chohan, better known in the pool world as Tony “T-Rex” Chohan, was born on June 28, 1981, in Sacramento, California. Raised in a Sikh family after his parents emigrated from India in the 1970s, Tony grew up as the oldest of three children. He attended Mesa Verde High School in Citrus Heights, but his real education came in the poolroom. At age fourteen, he began playing with his cousin, Amar Kang, who would also go on to a professional career. In less than two years, Tony was already making noise on the tournament scene, winning the USPPA handicap event in Reno at only sixteen.
Tony’s professional breakthrough came in 2007 when he captured the U.S. Open One Pocket Championship, a title he would claim again fifteen years later in 2022. Along the way he added victories at the Beasley Open, Big Tyme Classic, Texas Open, Bayou State Classic, and other premier events. His crowning moment came in 2023, when he won the Derby City Classic One Pocket Championship, one of pool’s most coveted titles. He has also won the Buffalo’s Pro Classic three times, cementing his place as one of the dominant modern figures in One Pocket.
What separates Tony from his peers is not just tournament play. He has built his reputation by continually staying in action. Willing to play for high stakes and take on anyone, anywhere, he became known as one of the boldest and most feared backroom players in the country. That mindset, combined with his natural talent and creativity, has defined the “T-Rex” persona and made him a fan favorite.
For much of his career Tony played with a Southwest cue, though he is now sponsored by Meucci Cues and represents companies such as Pool Action TV on his jerseys. In his mid-thirties he was diagnosed with hidradenitis suppurativa (HS), a painful and chronic skin condition that affects him daily. Even so, he has continued to compete and win at the highest level. His ability to push through that adversity says as much about him as any tournament title.
With almost three decades in the game, Tony is recognized as one of the premier One Pocket players of his generation. His titles and action play have earned him respect across the pool world, but his legacy is built on an aggressive, creative style that challenges conventional One Pocket thinking.
That same aggressive and creative mindset is the foundation of Game Tight One Pocket. Built from decades of tournament play and high-stakes action, Game Tight reflects Tony’s belief that One Pocket is best learned by understanding risk, pressure, and decision-making rather than memorizing patterns. It is an approach rooted in real competition and designed to help players think more clearly and play more confidently.
In recent years, that approach has carried over into Tony’s work as an instructor, where he offers private lessons and clinics across all major pool disciplines. He breaks down complex parts of the game into clear, usable concepts and helps players recognize mistakes they don’t even realize they’re making. While he still competes, Tony now devotes more of his time to teaching and passing on the creativity, fearlessness, and strategic thinking that define his game.
